Hello from Indianapolis, Indiana and south-central Kentucky.

I'm an Army veteran, owner of a small IT business, and a student of just about anything that helps build a more resilient, self-reliant life. During the week I solve technology problems for clients. On weekends you'll usually find me a couple of hours south on my Kentucky property, slowly turning raw land into the refuge I've imagined for years. I'm interested in practical skills far more than perfection. Woodworking, basic blacksmithing, gardening, rainwater collection, solar power, food preservation, and building things that are meant to last all make my list. I don't claim to be an expert in any of them. I'm here because I enjoy learning, asking questions, sharing successes, and admitting the occasional spectacular mistake before trying again. My goal isn't to "escape society." It's to build a quieter, simpler life with fewer unnecessary possessions, useful skills, and enough modern comfort that I can spend more time creating than consuming. I'm always interested in hearing how other people solved problems, what they'd do differently, and what lessons they learned the hard way. If you're on a similar journey, I'd enjoy comparing notes. It's less about teaching and more about recording what I'm learning, the mistakes I make, the projects I try, and the lessons I pick up along the way.
